Mental Health Awareness Day

Mental Health Awareness Day

The mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff is a priority for the Trust. Our schools place emphasis on teaching children about mental health and wellbeing, encouraging open conversations, and learning about strategies to look after their mental health.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Day, our schools got involved in a number of initiatives, activities and conversations. Hatcham College and Hatcham Temple Grove encouraged their students to wear yellow in support of raising awareness of mental health and show children that they are not alone with their mental health. Hatcham Temple Grove raised a fantastic £266 for Young Minds.

Crayford Academy also raised money in aid of mental health awareness by holding a bake sale. Students from their Sixth Form Leadership Team visited Crayford Temple Grove to talk to the students about the importance of mental health and wellbeing, excellently role-modelling for their younger counterparts. Crayford Temple Grove spent a day learning about ways to look after their mental health, by sharing stories, decorating biscuits, meditating, taking part in yoga sessions and relaxing.

Our staff mental health and wellbeing is as important to us as our students’ and we eager to provide support and resources to all our employees. We have recently joined Perkbox through which all our employees have free access to a 24-hour confidential counselling service. Learn more about our staff benefits.

Mental health awareness is a continuous focus for our schools and our Trust. - we all have a responsibility to listen and support our co-students, colleagues and friends so that none of us feel alone in our mental health. We want to ensure awareness and support is embedded throughout our curriculum all through the year for our students, so they learn to look after themselves and each other. Equally important to us is ensuring our staff feel supported and that they know what resources are available to them.
